Digital Scrapbooking

it's worth a try
So, I've been enjoying finishing my wedding scrapbook with the amazing computer program by Creative Memories. But I've also been wanting to find additional free papers and embellishments for my collection. We'll today I found something cool. It's called a "blog train." In this one http://ldsblogtrainblog.blogspot.com/ many people created digital scrapbooking things based off an LDS theme. Like the last one was "Called to Serve". Everything seems to be based off the same colors, which is nice. (I even found out that someone had created a Thai mission tag. Way cool!)

The next "blog train" is set for June 1st. Guess I'll have to head over to Mom's for the internet that day. :)

Lockdown

"Relax. Breathe. You're going to survive. No, this is not a drill."

This is what I said over and over again to my students today in 4th period as we went into lockdown. Luckily, nothing came of it. Simply a mistake over a chemical substance. But as I told my students, better safe than sorry.

More video of new house

This is NOT my best job of editing a video!!! But time was short and my sister wanted pictures posted to my family blog. (If you want the link, let me know.)

Other than that, life's been good. Kaylie is rolling and trying to crawl. She's saying "Da Da" but not "Ma Ma" yet. :( Nate's loving his job. And I'm tolerating mine this year (only 62 school days left.)

New House, Snow, and general update

Well, we got moved in completely on Friday. Now it's just time to unload everything. Many thanks goes out to my parents, in-laws, and the 5th ward Elder's Quorum. Thank you for hours you spent helping us move.

I love being in our new house. It's quiet (except when the snow plow goes by at 11pm), and warm (once we figured out how to turn on the pilot light on the ancient furnace), and the neighbors are great.

I also learned something new today while shoveling four inches of snow from our walks. Years ago when I was a little kid walking to school, I always thought that people shoveled their walks early in the morning so that the kids wouldn't have to have cold and wet feet at school. 'How nice of them,' I thought. But today I discovered that the real reason is that it's a PAIN to have to shovel after a bunch of kids have stomped the snow down. Alas, another childhood illusion shattered.

As for Christmas this year, it's going to be small because of the new house. I'm okay with that. But it's been hard not to buy much for Nate or Kaylie (who are both doing well.) I guess that I just need to keep reminding myself that Christmas isn't about how much I give or rather spend at the stores.

Well, it's the last day of school today. YAY! I hope that everyone out in LJ land has a safe and warm Holiday! Merry Christmas!

There's lots to do on it, but I thought I'd share with you our new house. (The very first clip was taken a week earlier, but my battery died. You can see the difference that a week can make in the weather and the demolition.) Sorry I didn't take the time to edit the video very much.

Longest Two Hours Ever

The good news is that we just finished signing papers on a house! The bad news (for our wallets) is that we just finished signing papers on a house!

I'm so excited! No more rent! No more loud noises from upstairs or sideways neighbors! No more smokers that don't listen to management after we've complained 50 gazillion times!

To quote from T.J. from Gilmore Girls, "I'm in escrow."

Pictures and update

So, being a mom for last ten weeks has been an adventure.  Baby is certainly healthy and beautiful.  I, on the other hand, have had a lot of problems with recovery.  But things seem to be improving.

Baby Kaylie was blessed in church on Sunday.  Here's a picture of four generations (my grandfather, my mother, me, and my daughter.)

For the first time in 23 years, I'm not in a school building on the first day of school. It's wierd!

D Day

Well, it's finally here. The elusive due date. Now I know that most women don't go into labor on their due date, but it would be convienent if I could. But if not, my doctor said she'd induce me on Tuesday at my next appointment. (I've heard that hurts. Again, I'm thinking that the thought of being in pain is going to be worse than actually being in pain. We'll see.)

Mom and I went and saw "Julie & Julia" yesterday. Loved it! Our theater was filled with older women, elderly couples, and moms & daughters. It was nice to be at a movie where I wasn't tempted to play teacher and tell off the annoying teenagers that always seem to sit by me.

As for the movie itself (no spoilers), it was really cute. Much more of a romantic comedy than a chick flick. It was nice to have a movie with two strong, independent women, who are both in healthy relationships with their loving husbands.

My only complant was having Stanley Tucci throw in his one curse word so that movie would have to be rated PG-13. Like in so many other movies he's been in, it's completely unnecessay for the plot or character development.

One last thought about the movie. Be prepared to want to cook when get home. Even if it's something simple. The food looked amazing and almost made me forget that I'm a picky eater. :)

2 1/2 weeks is FAR too long

Ok.  Until like...today I totally haven't minded being pregnant.  But today I'm tired, have a headache, and it's hot.
